35 hour Basic Transformative Mediation Training
The Mediation Center of Dutchess County is offering a basic transformative mediation training June 2, 3, 9 & 10th at Marist College in Poughkeepsie.
Learn and develop mediation skills. Those skills can benefit parents, managers, school staff, attorneys, employees, and community members so that they can intervene in conflicts constructively.
Training can be taken for personal or professional development – or as preparation to become a volunteer mediator with the Mediation Center. Pre-registration required.
Registration for an orientation session is required for those interested in volunteering. Call or e-mail to sign up for an orientation date.
The orientations (you need only attend one) will be at the Mediation Center at 147 Union Street, Suite 102. Attending an orientation is not required for non-volunteers who are taking the training. The orientation dates are: Thursday, May 24th from 10am - 11am - or - Tuesday, May 29th from 6pm to 7pm.
For attorneys (pending): New York CLE 36 credits, of which 2 are ethics and professionalism (transitional and non-transitional)
The fee for individuals not interested in volunteering is $550 (Dutchess County residents) and $750 (out-of-county residents). Financial aid is available for those in need.
We are also asking participants to purchase this text book for the training: Transformative Mediation: A Sourcebook, Resources for Conflict Intervention Practitioners and Programs. Folger, Bush and Della Noce, Editors. The book can be ordered at: http://www.transformativemediation.org/?q=node/14 We are asking participants to read chapter 9 and chapter 1 before the training.
